The USCCA’s “Emergency First Aid Fundamentals” course teaches individuals critical skills and techniques to manage medical and traumatic emergencies until professional responders arrive. The training is specifically designed to bridge the gap between the time of injury and the arrival of emergency medical services, equipping students to save lives during a crisis. This class is for everyday people, not just firearm owners, and covers both medical and trauma-related emergencies.

Core topics covered:

  • Patient assessment: Learn to perform a complete patient and scene assessment to quickly identify and treat life threats.
  • Traumatic emergencies: Develop skills for handling a variety of severe injuries, including:
    • Serious and arterial bleeding, including the use of tourniquets and wound packing.
    • Chest injuries, such as penetrating wounds and flail chest.
    • Head, spinal, and eye trauma.
    • Broken bones and severe burns.
  • Mass casualty situations: Learn the START Triage System for managing incidents involving multiple victims.
  • Emergency preparedness: Receive instruction on how to build and organize a personal first-aid and trauma kit for your home, vehicle, or personal carry.

  • Effectively assess and treat a wide range of life-threatening injuries.
